Developing Our Own Questions
A great strategy to help youth reflect and process STEM learning is to develop their own questions to ask each other during a time of reflection. Listen as the frontline staff encourages youth to brainstorm question possibilities and facilitates the question and answer time. Pay special attention to how they guide youth to reflect upon the STEM learning and give youth time to process.
Research suggests: Frontline staff and volunteers ask guiding questions to help children make sense of and process what is happening during explorations and encourage youth to reflect on what they have learned at the end of each activity. (Education Development Center, page 17 - 18)
