In order to build learning and engagement in STEM, we must first understand how youth develop and be able to apply positive youth development (PYD) principles when providing enriching and challenging learning experiences with youth.
What is Positive Youth Development?
Youth Development professionals need to know and understand the foundations of human development in order to build strong relationships and support youth as they grow and learn. Understanding and applying these principles of youth development ensures that staff can provide engaging activities and create high quality environments for youth. By integrating these principles into their daily practice, youth development professionals ensure positive outcomes for youth by providing opportunities, building strong relationships, and equipping youth with foundations needed to build and grow in their own leadership skills.
